CLASS DETAILS

Advanced Portfolio Mentorship

Age Group: 14-17 Years

This is the definitive destination for high school students who are serious about their creative futures. Whether your child is building a competitive university admissions portfolio or mastering elite fine art techniques, this specialized track provides the rigorous mentorship they need to succeed.

AP Art & Design Portfolio Preparation

This programme is directly geared toward preparing students for the College Board’s AP Art and Design Portfolio exam.

This programme provides specialised studio training and portfolio mentorship for students preparing for AP Art & Design. Students do not need to receive their artistic training through a traditional school AP Art & Design class; however, AP registration, exam ordering, and the final submission of the portfolio must follow the College Board’s required process through the student’s AP class section and/or AP coordinator. I personally guide your teenager through the rigorous process of developing, documenting, and refining a professional-level portfolio for AP submission.

A qualifying AP score may earn college credit, advanced placement, or both, depending on the policies of the individual college or university. A strong AP portfolio can also become a meaningful part of a student’s higher-education application.

Tailored Studio Pathways

I offer individualised mentorship across two distinct AP portfolio categories, depending on your child's specific creative strengths:

  • AP Drawing Track: Deeply analytical work focusing on line quality, rendering, surface manipulation, and mark-making.

  • AP 2-D Art & Design Track: Focus on composition, digital or physical layout, photography, illustration, and graphic design principles.

Core Focus Areas for the AP Submission

To work toward a top score, a student needs to think like a collegiate artist beyond rendering skilfully. I take them step-by-step through the core components of the submission:

  1. The Sustained Investigation (15 Images): I help students formulate a deep, personal conceptual question. I then guide them through the research, experimentation with materials, and documented revisions required to answer that question visually.

  2. The Written Evidence: I mentor students through the high-level writing portion of the exam, teaching them how to articulately describe their artistic process, choices, and material discovery in words.

  3. Selected Works (5 Finished Pieces): We curate and refine the absolute best pieces from their studio time to showcase technical mastery of design principles.
